Two days ago the world lost one of its brightest thinkers. Steve Jobs changed the way the world functions, and the media is covering his death accordingly. An excess of articles have been published on ABC News within the last two days since Jobs' death. ABC News primarily focused on the legacy left behind by one of history's greatest innovators. From articles about Jobs' personal life to a list of his top quotes, ABC covers Jobs' life and death thoroughly. The website featured stories regarding the American public, celebrities and even President Obama's thoughts on the technology guru's death.
ABC News features a slideshow of Steve Jobs throughout the years. The images to the right can be found in the slideshow. The photo on the left was taken June 12, 2005 when Jobs gave the Stanford University commencement speech. The photo to the right was taken June 6, 2011 while Jobs delivered the keynote address at the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference in San Fransisco. The drastic physical change Jobs' experienced while battling pancreatic cancer is clear when looking at these photographs side by side.
Jobs' death was felt around the world, and I would argue it is for more than just his technological innovations. Jobs publicly battled pancreatic cancer for seven years. Virtually everyone has been effected by cancer in one way or another. I personally, have been directly effected when my mother and aunt were both diagnosed with cancer in March. I think that it is because of this common link that most people were truly saddened by Jobs' death. Cancer has taken many lives, now claiming one of the smartest men in history. Jobs' face, once normally linked with iPods and iPads, has also become the face of cancer's wrath.
