This week in my Digital Journalism II class my partner, Sarah Butler, and I worked to develop our second audio slideshow package on Our Next Generation, a local Milwaukee neighborhood center and tutoring program. The first slideshow focused on Sammie Lou Krieger, a tutor who has volunteered at Our Next Generation for the last 16 years. For the second slideshow, we used the audio we gathered from sixth-grader, Ashley*. Krieger and Ashley have worked together for six years. Ashley's profile is part of a companion piece Butler and I had published with the Milwaukee Neighborhood News Service.
I felt very comfortable photographing, recording and editing the material for this project due to my prolonged exposure to the software and technology over the semester. I am very pleased I had the opportunity to discover Our Next Generation and have worked published online. Our first slideshow was published by the Milwaukee Neighborhood News Service Dec. 5.
*Ashley's name has been changed at the request of her family.
