The semester is halfway over, and so is my assignment to analyze ABC News for my Digital Journalism II course. But just because the class has reached its halfway point doesn't mean I'm 50 percent finished learning about digital journalism.
Today's homepage featured a story about Michael Jackson's death. It is obvious that because of Jackson's worldwide fame the story should be one of the main stories. That being said, I believe that ABC News, like most news sources, went overboard covering Jackson's most recent court trials.
As mentioned in my previous blog post, I believe that ABC News should prioritize its content better. As my blog post explains, I think that featuring any story about Kate Gosselin over a news event as important as the tenth anniversary of 9/11 is rediculous.
I believe that ABC News is one of the most popular news stations and websites for a reason. It does a very thorough job at reporting on a wide range of topics, quickly and efficiently. However, it feels at times that the "news" is not news at all.
