Last week proved to be an interesting one for members of "The 12." We focused strongly on reblogging content from various Tumblr accounts in order to get more graphics and diversity on our page. This proved to be a bit more difficult than originally thought. After hours, literally – hours, of searching numerous tags on Tumblr, I was finally able to find something related to politics from a reputable source, The Atlantic.
However, like last week, our group focuses on more than one assignment at a time. We received last week's assignments just after President Obama revealed his latest plans for the DREAM Act. Clearly this was a newsworthy announcement that we were going to cover.
It was very interesting to see what other states thought about immigration, Arizona in particular. Yvonne Gonzalez, who is representing Arizona in "The 12" had a few great posts about immigration last week and a few already this week. Read her initial immigration post here. However, I had a much harder time looking for immigration articles related to my state. Since Wisconsin is fairly silent when it comes to immigration as a campaign issue, I focused more on our third assignment – covering local political happenings in each state.
Nearly a month after the recall election, Wisconsin is still feeling its effects. June 5th, State Sen. Van Wanggaard lost to former Sen. John Lehman by a narrow margin and recently announced he would pursue a recount.

The official results of the recount must be presented by July 2nd, so stay tuned for a follow up post this week or the next.
But the recount news wasn't the only reason Wisconsin had a big week. GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney visited the state June 18th during his bus tour. He spoke in the town of Janesville which was actually a very interesting choice for a campaign stop. Janesville has done very poorly under Scott Walker's term and was one of the few areas in the state to go "blue" in the recall election. The area seems to be experiencing sense of anti-conservatism with Walkers historic win, so Romney had a lot of persuading to do.

Next week, we are turning our attention to upcoming Supreme Court decisions in relation to healthcare and immigration, as well finding some lighthearted material and reblogging additional content.
