Turning toward the Democratic National Convention, Wisconsin Senate hopeful and state representative Tammy Baldwin took the stage the same night as President Obama. Her speech focused almost directly to Wisconsin voters, despite the convention being a national event. I'm not sure if I am in support of that approach or not. I believe her decision shows what an important state Wisconsin is turning out to be in this election. It also shows how passionate she is about beating former Sen. Tommy Thompson in November. However, I feel she probably lost some out-of-state viewers' attention with her speech's narrow focus. Below is my post including the full-length video of Rep. Baldwin's speech.
As promised last week, below are my two additional video responses to the third callout assignment for "The 12." For this callout assignment, we worked on asking people why they are a Democrat, Republican or neither.
I really enjoyed this callout assignment for multiple reasons. First of all, it was really interesting to hear people's individual reasons for their political affiliations. Secondly, it gave me more experience with shooting video on my iPhone. I still prefer using a traditional video camera and tripod, but I am getting more used to shooting video with my mobile device (although my arms can still be a little too shaky).
This week was also my first opportunity to incorporate an article published by my school's student newspaper, The Marquette Tribune. Below is an article written by fellow student journo, Alexandra Wittaker.

Next week's assignments include one or more local postings in addition to one reblog. It will be interesting to see how news picks up and develops with less than two months to go until Election Day.
