I had the pleasure of waking up this morning and seeing my name officially affiliated with The Washington Post for the first (and definitely not the last) time.
My first post for "The 12" relates to the topic of my previous blog post: the Wisconsin Recall Election. This being the beginning of the project, I think it is safe to say most of the 12 participating students were a bit nervous to submit their first posts. I personally was wondering, "Am I doing this right?" up until about 10 minutes ago after reading everyone else's posts (it turns out I am).
This opportunity to see my work featured on such a prestigious news source is really something. I'm not sure how to explain it to anyone who hasn't been in a similar situation. My mom was in tears the moment she saw my face on the site...however, I was a bit more composed. A journalist should be proud of each byline and this has been my proudest moment thus far.
In a few hours, "The 12" will be having our second conference call. I am very excited to see what our editor, Natalie Jennings has to say about today's launch and what is in store for next week. Stay tuned.
