Although it is not official, The St. Louis Post-Dispatch (and the majority of the country) have narrowed the race for President of the United States down to two: Barack Obama and Mitt Romney. With November seeming far away, there isn't a gigantic amount of discussion about the two candidates on the website, but there is talk about people they are connected to.
There is an entire article dedicated to Mitt Romney's wife, Ann. The 63-year-old grandmother and former stay-at-home mother seems to have brought the couple a lot of positive attention and support after CNN commentator Hilary Rosen said Ann Romney “never worked a day in her life.” In her own defense, Ann Romney tweeted "I made a choice to stay home and raise five boys. Believe me, it was hard work." This recent activity has resulted in a lot of attention for stay-at-home moms across the country.
Another relationship both candidates are clinging too is that of Ronald Reagan. According to the Post-Dispatch's article, "Obama frequently mentions the conservative icon and hints at parallels between now and 1984." Obama even tried naming his "Buffett Rule" proposal to "the Reagan Rule" because Reagan supported closing tax loopholes during his time in office. Romney appears to be channeling the former president by portraying himself as a as a Reagan-like advocate for smaller government and lower taxes.
I believe that the connection between Reagan and the current presidential candidates is a bit of a stretch and won't really affect the outcome of the election. Interestingly enough, I think that Rosen's attack on Ann Romney was the best thing that could have happened to her husband at this point in the race.
